The Jewish Community of India was originally composed of three major communities: The Jews of Cochin, The Jews of Baghdad and the Bene Israel. The Jews of Cochin and the Bene Israel have been in India from around 175 B.C.E. The Jews of Baghdad came to India around the year 1790 C.E. Each community has a fascinating history and story to tell. In addition, two newer communities have come up, the Bene Menashe and the Bene Ephraim.

Rabbi Romliel is an ordained Ashkenzai Rabbi. A comparison of Asheknazi and Mizrachi/Sephardic traditions and rituals will lead to an insightful discussion.

Light lunch will be served. $13 per person for Temple members, $16 per person for non-members. Advance registration is required, however payment is only accepted at the door.

RSVP by November 1 – 516-367-6100 ext. 103

The Judaica Shop will be open – get all your holiday shopping done in one place.

We are a welcoming and inclusive congregation and would like to make this experience more meaningful for you.  If you need any accommodations or special arrangements, please contact the Temple Office.
