COVID-19 UPDATES

Temple Chaverim’s building is currently closed.
Our community will continue to gather and worship remotely.
Stay tuned below for the latest updates.

Dear Chaverim,

As New York State continues its phased reopening, we wanted to share with our members the steps we have taken to prepare for the reopening of our Temple Chaverim building and provide a timeline for the coming weeks and months.

In preparation for the re-opening, we have secured hand sanitizer stands to be installed throughout the temple and appropriate plexiglass dividers for the offices. Additionally, we have received two clear barriers for the Bima. The staff has also made certain we have sufficient disinfectant supplies to maintain the highest possible standards of safety and cleanliness.

As we communicated previously, the building will re-open in stages. Following is a brief outline of these stages and anticipated opening dates:

Stage One –June 29

  • Clergy and staff will return to the building and work on a staggered schedule.
  • The layout of the hallways and offices will be modified so that social distancing will be possible.

Stage Two –July 13

  • In accordance with state guidelines, total occupancy of the building will be managed and monitored at all times.
  • Small worship services will be arranged for B’nai Mitzvah families.
  • Entry to the temple will be possible BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We encourage transactions to be digital or by mail, if possible.
  • Visitor logs will be maintained and will include contact information.
  • Anyone wishing to enter the building will be scanned for body temperature.
  • A mask must be worn at all times while in the building.
  • Social distancing guidelines are to be followed.

Stage Three –TBD

  • All of the above protocols for entering the building will remain in place.
  • Worship services could be expanded to up to 25% capacity of the sanctuary, pending social distancing limitations

The above steps, in addition to others that are sure to come based upon additional guidance from government agencies and best practices from other synagogues and institutions, will allow us to re-open the building in a safe and welcoming manner.

We look forward to seeing you all again in our second home of Chaverim!

If you would like to support the Temple Chaverim community and all of its efforts, every dollar counts.  Please consider making a donation, today!
