3rd - 12th Grade Chocolate Seder, Thursday, March 25th @ 5pm
| CHATY (9th - 12th Grade Youth Group) |
| CHATY Board 5770 President, Jake Shaw Programming VP, Zoe Finn Social Action VP, Deb Lipson Communications VP, Andrew Willig Membership VP, Rebecca Salmon Religious and Cultural VP, Gabe Hecht Rabbinic Advisor, Rabbi Josh Lobel Youth Advisor, Heather Katz Hi, my name is Heather Katz and I'm the Youth Advisor for Temple Chaverim. I am really excited about this position because I have experience planning fun social events in a Jewish atmosphere from Binghamton Univerisity, and jumped at the chance to do it again. I have many interests, such as cooking, world travel, baseball (Go Mets!), and sushi--I could go on forever! I look forward to working with you all and hope that we can plan some memorable events together. Drop me an email at heather@templechaverim.org so I can get to know you!
The Senior Youth Group of CHATY provides a forum for high school teens in grades 9-12 to socialize with their Jewish peers while strengthening their sense of Jewish identity through a variety of engaging and fun programs. The group is advised by our Assistant Rabbi Josh Lobel.
The Senior Youth Group runs monthly activities including bowling, Movie and Chinese Food Night, Bowling for Tzedakah, Mall Scavenger Hunt, traveling to the city to see a Broadway show, a Chocolate Seder, and social action intitiatives including visiting The Ronald McDonald House.
The Senior Youth Group is encouraged to participate with the North American Federation of Temple Youth-New York Area Region (NFTY-NAR). NFTY-NAR plans weekends to camps run by the Reform movement, as well as day and evening events for its member groups. Additionally, many youth groups in NFTY-NAR plan dances and overnights to which other youth groups are invited. This is a great way to meet and make friends with other teens and visit with old friends.
Visit the National Federation of Temple Youth Website at www.NFTY.org for some really cool, fun-filled events.
