Welcome to Temple Chaverim
Plainview, New York

.
.

Led by the creative and dynamic Rabbi Jonathan L. Hecht, Ph.D., our enthusiastic and vibrant Assistant Rabbi Joshua Lobel, our welcoming and gifted Cantor Bradley Hyman, and a knowledgeable and caring Religious School Principal Debbye Brandell, Temple Chaverim strives to create a lively and warm spirit in our services and Religious School. A Reform Synagogue, Temple Chaverim is committed to providing a full range of Jewish ritual, social, educational and social action programming for our diverse membership. We are an affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism. Temple Chaverim serves the Long Island communities of Plainview, Woodbury, Syosset, Old Bethpage, Melville, Jericho and Huntington.

In addition to providing a full program of religious activities, our members are involved in a variety of cultural, family, educational, and social action programs.

Message From Rabbi Hecht

Dear Friend,

The synagogue is the center of Jewish life in America. Temple Chaverim is a center for Reform Jewish life in our community. We offer something very different from many congregations on Long Island. We have worked hard to create an atmosphere, which is at the same time, cordial and caring, hamish and open, modern and rooted in the traditions of Judaism.

As a member congregation of the Union for Reform Judaism, we take seriously the vision of Reform Judaism: to offer a varied program of Jewish life to the Jews of our community, to prepare our children for the future, and to meet the spiritual needs of our members. We have grown from fifteen families to a congregation of over 500 family units. Our beautiful Synagogue building, coupled with its one hundred year old ark, provides a perfect setting for worship, learning and community building.

I invite you to become a part of Temple Chaverim. Join us in the excitement as we strive to become one of the best synagogues on Long Island.

And, don't forget to follow me on my blog - http://tcdancingrabbi.blogspot.com/.  You can either sign up to be a regular "follower" or just pop in for a spontaneous update whenever you like!

B'Shalom,

Jonathan L. Hecht, Ph.D
Rabbi
